Brief introduction

Center for Nondestructive Testing and Control of Beijing Institute of Technology is based on the National Key Discipline of Mechanical Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Defense of Advanced Machining. For years, the staff of the lab have been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of the theory and technology in nondestructive testing and control field. The lab is mainly oriented to the forefront of the national defense science & technology industry, national economic development and the real production demand, focusing on the theory and technology research of ultrasonic, acoustic emission, electromagnetic nondestructive testing mechanism and automatic control. A wide range of research interests up to 19 directions have been conducted, including double manipulator ultrasonic nondestructive testing technology, ultrasonic microscopy, ultrasonic scan of nondestructive testing technology, piezoelectric ultrasonic transducer characteristics measuring system, ultrasonic testing instrument measurement system, acoustic emission sensor sensitivity characteristic calibration technology, ultrasonic elasticity modulus measuring instrument, comprehensive parameter measurement technology for cannon tube, laser measurement technology for complex rotary parts, multi-channel ultrasonic inspection imaging technology for plate component, liquid ultrasonic array technology, pipeline defect detection technology, residual stress instrument of ultrasonic nondestructive testing, regulation and control of local residual stress, TOFD technique for internal weld defect detection, residual stress testing technology for annular array type pipe weld, preload stress measuring technique of the bolt, thickness measurement technology of materials and special coating, focusing array guided wave defect detection technology of pipeline and regulation principle and technology of residual stress of situ high-energy electromagnetic. With over 100 postgraduates have been involving in more than 30 provincial level projects, some 260 papers have been published and about 60 patents, most of which have been granted, have been applied.

The center, which covers an area of more than 400 square meters and possesses an apparatus asset of 10 million CNY and a research grant of 10 million CNY per year, is now staffed by eight supervisors (consisting of doctoral supervisor, professor, associate professor, senior experimentalist and lecturer), 12 PhD students and 30 master students.

Oriented to the research and service for the nondestructive testing technology in China, the center maintains the guideline of the combination of basic theory and engineering application, and of the international academic exchanges and cooperation. The center now has forged widespread and long-term science and technology cooperation relationships with many applied research institutes and key universities home and abroad, which include Physical Acoustic Corp., China Academic of Space Technology, Shantou Institute of Ultrasonic Instruments Co., Ltd. , Penn State University, Northwestern University, Bristol University, Newcastle University, Imperial College London, Pusan National University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Kagawa University, etc.

Taking the responsibility of the cultivating of intellectuals and talents of non-destructive testing technology for China and the promoting of non-destructive testing technology worldwide, Center for Nondestructive Testing and Control of Beijing Institute of Technology is well ready to develop various exchanges and cooperation with industry colleagues.
